Signs of Toxic Chinese Drywall

  1. Rotten Egg Smell - We have all smelled Sulfur before and the defective drywall tends to emit a noxious rotten egg odor especially in high heat and humidity. A good time to check for these fumes in a colder climate would be after a hot shower or dish and clothes washing.
  2. Black and Corroded Electrical Wiring - The Sulfur materials from the Chinese Drywall can leak in the air and emit one of several sulfur compounds including Sulfur Dioxide and Hydrogen Sulfide and when combined with moisture it could possibly create Sulfuric Acid. Check your electrical wiring for corrosion and or a black soot like substance. Copper wiring like that used in air conditioning units are especially at risk.
  3. New Appliances Failing - Several people have reported multiple brand new appliances like TV Sets, AC Units, and Ovens failing within the first year of use in a home with toxic chinese drywall installed.
  4. Irritated Sinuses and Alergies - The Chinese Drywall Lawsuit also alledges the Sulfur compounds emitted from the drywall can cause respiratory problems such as coughing and irritation on the sinuses, eyes and throats.
